The First Microfinance Bank – Afghanistan (FMFB-A) started its operation in 2004 and is part of the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM), which has financial institutions operating in over 15 countries throughout the developing world. Job Summary:

The incumbent of the position is responsible to manage and solve all issues related to branches with head office and vice versa, this position will also monitor all points from operation, audit, Risk and compliance in order to finds different way for solving.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that effective documentation is in place, in the form of user guides and implement operational improvements to reduce operational costs, tighten controls, improve service quality and customer service.
  • Ensure that all process in branches is processing according to policy, procedures, standards and regulators requirement.
  • Manages Branches through dotted line of reporting and ensure effective implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Working with branches to grow deposit, sales and achieving branches’ target.
  • Communicate any updates with branches to ensure that branches are always updated about policy, procedure, and FMFB products and services.
  • Building branch operations staff capacity to ensure that the operations staff in branches has the knowledge in terms of policies, procedures and standards coordinating with training department.
  • Manages KYCs update, and to implement risk management, IA and regulators recommendations for improving operation efficiency and assist head of banking operations in terms of control and operations risk management.
  • Ensure that effective communication is in place with departments, branches and clients.
  • To check all products related to branches in system and make sure that all of them are the same approved documents.
  • To visit branches to ensure that all operations and activities is done according to the policies, procedures and standards and the given target are achieved as per the checklist.
  • Conduct weekly meeting with branch managers and discuss activities and outcome of the department, further provide formal instruction and guideline to the staff.
  • To ensure about implementation of Compliance, Risk and Audit points in branches through proper plan.
  • Organize managers meetings in HQ.
  • Any other task assigned by line manager.

Qualification:

Education:          

  • BBA degree, and MBA preferred.

Experience:        

  • Hands experience in banking operation, risk management and audit.
  • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in banking operations in level of branch manager, Zone manager.
  •  Having knowledge of various core banking systems, AML/CFT regulations and workflow management systems
  • With keen sense in information technology development and Operation processes.

Skills:    

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, good command of the predominant local languages.
  • Good knowledge of process improvement methodology, auditing and documentation.
  • Good leadership skill, relationship skill and communication skill.
  • To have knowledge of branch operations, lending, Islamic Banking and control.
