About FMFB-A:
As a background, FMFB-A started its operation in 2004, and is part of the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM), which has financial institutions operating in different countries throughout the world. It is affiliated with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of development agencies working in health, education, culture and rural economic development.
Project Overview:
The First MicroFinanceBank – Afghanistan (FMFB-A), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is launching a financial inclusion initiative aimed at supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with a particular focus on women and youth entrepreneurs who face barriers to accessing traditional financing.
The initiative seeks to empower members of savings groups through Sharia-compliant microloans (e.g., Murabaha, Mudaraba) and matching grants, enabling them to establish or grow small businesses, enhance income, and improve livelihoods. FMFB-A will act as a financial service facilitator under this initiative, subject to finalization of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNDP.
To support implementation, FMFB-A is seeking two qualified Trainers for its provincial offices in Badakhshan and Takhar provinces.
Job purpose:
The Trainer will be responsible for building awareness and delivering training to the targeted savings groups on Sharia-compliant financial services, including the processes and benefits of Murabaha financing and matching grants. Additionally, the trainer will support savings group members (including women-led and youth-led groups) to enhance their entrepreneurial skills, improve market linkages, and strengthen their capacity in areas such as product development, sales, and marketing.
